    Note that for most use cases, Press Permit Pro’s supplemental roles and exceptions eliminate the need to edit WordPress role definitions for post, page or custom post type access. Usually, the simplest and cleanest solution is to leave them alone.

    Press Permit’s type-specific supplemental roles are assigned by treating your roles’ “*_posts” capabilities as a pattern to apply for other selectable post types. If you do choose to modify the default WordPress role definitions, be aware that changes to the “*_posts” capabilities will affect that “pattern role” behavior.

    That said, editing or adding WP role definitions is appropriate in some situations.
